Hey there!
It’s been a long time away from this space, and after a lot of inner battles on whether or not I should send this letter to you, here I am, finally sending you this letter after what seems like ages. First, I need to ask how you are doing.
How are you doing?
For me, it’s been a jump from one busy point to another, doing the work that pays my bill while at the same time striving towards fulfilling purpose. While I’m still juggling with that, there come the tiny whispers of doubt and fear, but do I have to pay them any mind?
What has fear and doubt served me?
More fear, obscurity, and being extremely satisfied with mediocrity.
To pull myself out of a crowd that wants small things is no small feat to achieve. So this letter to you is not only a testament to my rising above fear and doubt, it is also an invitation to you to glow softly, gently.
Glow Softly, Gently with Hello Sun is a space I created to document my journey to sustainable, frugal, and mindful living. The world is chaotic and messy, and it is appalling to see people living haphazardly, with no sense of organization. We jump queues, litter the street, ignore traffic lights, and generate tons of waste with little to no regard for its impact on our environment and the generations that come after us.
We also have the wrong belief about money. We see money as that half-empty tin of Milo that will soon finish, so we hold on to it, never letting go, when in essence, money can work as a tool to make dreams come alive. More often than not, we place ourselves on a pedestal, measuring our lives with the best photos of people on the gram. As a result, we are constantly influenced and pressured to buy, to spend, to get the latest: a labubu, cheap frontals that sit awkwardly on one’s head, a new industrial blender, because all of a sudden, your faithful blender doesn’t seem to do the work anymore, thanks to buchymix influencers.
We seek to be a certain way, thereby failing to live life on our own terms.
Glow Softly, Gently is my subtle invite to you, to stand out from the pack and live life intentionally and mindfully, not jeopardizing the ability of future generations to find their own feet from the plethora of resources made available to us. If, by the reason of creating this space, I can influence you to live life more sustainably, frugally, and mindfully, I will be more than pleased.
